Summer Transition Education Program

 

Summer Transition Education Program (STEP)

  • Are you a person with a disability aged 16 to 21 years old?
  • Are you interested in learning to become more independent?
  • Are you interested in learning how to plan for your future by setting goals?

  • Are you curious about how to advocate for yourself?

  • Are you interested in living on a college campus, eating in the dining halls, and meeting other young people? YES to all of these questions, you should consider applying for the Summer Transition Education Program (STEP) offered by the Center for Disabilities Studies at the University of Delaware! The 2010 session runs from July 11 – July 16.

    • For an application, see your guidance or transition counselor, or visit the CDS website listed below. Cost for the week-long program is $1,500 and includes all meals, linens, classes, evening activities, and materials.

    You’ll stay in a dorm at the University of Delaware, take classes in advocacy, career exploration, goal-setting, and empowerment, learn about yourself, have fun, and form relationships with others!Call Debbie Bain at 302.831.8733

    Saturday ASL classes for Parents and Extended Family Members

    DSD will be offering FREE Saturday ASL classes from April 17 to May 1.  To help us plan for these classes, we are asking parents to fill out the surveys below and return them to Debra Wolff at DSD.  You can send them with your student or you can email your survey to Debra at wolffd@christina.k12.de.us  Thank you for taking the time to help us make these classes meet your needs.
